A Message to Parents or Guardians:
Outville Presbyterian Church, located at the intersection of Blacks Road and Outville Road in Pataskala, is beginning a Wednesday Kids Club for Kikersville Elementary students in Grades 1-3. The club, 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm, will include homework help, snacks, music, yoga, dinner, and Bible stories that teach positive values. During the first semester we will focus on compassion: compassion for self, compassion for others, compassion for the earth. We will examine different places in our lives where we can cultivate compassion.
While we are a Christian church, we do not proselytize. We welcome children of all faiths and no faith to participate.
We are limiting our numbers to 20-25 for the first semester. Our volunteers will have background checks. Our congregation has a comprehensive child safety policy, and our volunteers will go through child safety training. Parents are always welcome to drop in and observe--and our lesson plans are available for review.
Transportation may be handled in one of three ways. Some children may ride the bus that uses our church parking lot as a drop off point. We have a 15-passenger van available to pick up children at the school. In addition, parents may wish to drop off their child at the church.
Why are we beginning this program? To support families in the community. Parenting is stressful and we felt it might be helpful to have one night when homework help and dinner are provided. Many of our volunteers have worked with the children at the Kirkersville Elementary School and some of our volunteers are retired educators.
The registration form must return to the church by September 8, 2025. If we have more applications than spots in the program, we will notify parents. We look forward to welcoming your child! If you have questions, you may contact Pastor Mary Gene Boteler at mgboteler@gmail.com.
